First post of 2020! To kick off the year I wanted to share my go to sick tea recipes. I caught a little cold coming back from Mexico and am still a bit congested. Boo! A few of my coworkers are also still coughing and blowing their noses so I thought maybe you might be trying to fight off the post holiday blues too.
I have two different recipes that I reach for when I’m starting to feel a cold come on. The first I usually buy (but you can make it at home), the second is my own little concoction that I feel works the best and is much healthier.
Starbucks Medicine Ball
While it is much more convenient to just drive on through Starbucks and pick this one up it is possible to make it at home. The amount of sugar in this drink though is very high since they use lemonade. You could easily make this drink and substitute the lemonade for a sugar free option, or just straight lemon juice.
Starbucks steams the lemonade and water, then pours the mixture over the tea bags, add honey and you are good to go!
Healthy Sick Tea
This is my own little recipe and I feel like it is far more effective than Starbucks. Starbucks like scrapes the surface, but this one really has good ingredients to get in there and heal ya.
Some days I leave out the lemon tea and just do Echinacea. When I do that I add in some sprinkles of ginger powder, my On Guard drops, and honey. That honestly works just as well. I do love the Lemon Ginger because it combines everything, but is also good for digestion.
