Crop tops…how do you feel about them? They are not typically my style, but I totally get why some people love them. Especially in humidity! This summer I’ve spent my time in incredibly humid places and I understand the need for light weight clothing and the least amount of things touching you. While I don’t mind humidity it is definitely different than the dry California heat. You’re just sticky all the time and tight clothing is not a good choice! So I understand the need for loose flowy dresses, light thin tops, and crop tops.

I think my hesitancy to wear crop tops stems from when I was a little kid. I grew in a very conservative Christian household and showing your tummy was never okay! I remember my dad questioning us watching Kim Possible because her midriff was exposed. It wasn’t allowed at school and if we saw any sort of character or woman who was showing her stomach that was a big NO. I totally understand where my parents were trying to teach us back then, but now is a totally different story. In fact the roles have become reversed and I question whether something is to short or shows my stomach and my mother is the one telling me it fits and I should wear it. This crop top is a great example of that. I probably questioned wearing this top so many times and both my mom and sister told me to wear it. I’m so glad I did! I got a lot of compliments on it.

Now I’m not telling you to go buy all the crop tops. There is for sure a classy way to go about it. I think I little peak of tummy can be nice, and maybe if you’re gonna show your stomach lets keep the cleavage covered. And I think this also needs to be said, wearing a bra or bralette as a shirt doesn’t count. It’s not a shirt. It’s meant to go under something people! Please spare everyone of that. There is definitely still a way to show some midriff and keep it modest still. So find that balance. Please. I beg you!
