Apple Picking in Southern California

If you’ve been around the blog for a few years you know apple picking is one of my favorite fall activities. I look forward to the photos, memories, and writing this post every year! This year is a little different as the fires in Southern California literally burned right up to our normal farm. Driving there was crazy seeing the burned hills along the road. Even where we parked at the orchard had mountains surrounding it that were completely charred. I’m so thankful for the firefighters that worked so hard across my state to save homes and business like Los Rios Rancho.

This year we got up early and went right at the start of the day. It kept us a bit cooler since the sun wasn’t fully at its peak yet. It is normally still very hot in So Cal in September and October so any way we can avoid the heat we still do.

I think the reason I love apple picking so much is it’s such a fun activity and the little tourist village that surrounds the orchards are adorable, but also you get to come home and have the apple goodness for a few weeks after. It’s like the fun memories you made last a little longer as you use up the apples in whatever way you see fit.

This seems so fun. Apple picking is something I’ve wanted to do for a while but not gotten around to yet.

So glad you had fun! All of ours are closed 🙁 I’ve always wanted to go! And yes, it’s so sad about all the fires. Beaks my heart!

This looks like so much fun! I’m hoping to go pumpkin picking this year, since I think we missed the mark with picking apples where we live! I want to do this next year, though!

It looks like you had such fun! I miss apple picking. We have a beautiful apple orchard less than an hour from my home, but I’m super allergic to apples, so it makes picking a lot less fun haha.

Oh no!! That’s terrible. You have to try going picking for other fruit at other times of the year.

I look forward to apple picking every year but skipped it this time around to avoid the crowds. Managed to make it to a local cider mill (not the same but I’ll take it!)
