Let’s Do This

by
Proverbs 16:9

Do y’all set New Years Resolutions? I don’t. Never really have. However, I think at the beginning of a New Year, or a new season of life, there can be a lot to look forward to. There’s a lot of unknowns in a year, and a lot of things to make someone nervous. Yet, it’s a new year and the possibilities are endless! I’ve been thinking about sharing some things I am looking forward to in 2017 for the last few days now and as I was working on my end of the year post (which if you haven’t read you should, because it’s hilarious!), I’ve decided to go ahead and write it all down. Hopefully that will make my goals a little more real if they’re actually in writing.

2016 was a huge year of change for me. From going to a new church, to graduating college, to being single and dating again, to post grad life, and finding new jobs, there was just so much that happened! In the last year, I learned to trust the Lord a lot more and even what choosing to make Him a more serious priority meant. I think I learned a lot more about the verse Proverbs 16:9 “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” I’ve had many of my plans fail, and at this point I have no idea where the Lord is taking my life or career. Yet, at this point, I’m looking forward with great hope as to what the Lord has planned for me this year.

Proverbs 16:9

I don’t know what is in store and I have some things that I would like to accomplish, but I have more things in which I want to make more of a priority or importance in my life. Go ahead and call them resolutions if you want, but I’m looking at them more as priority changes.

One// Read More

As I grew up, going to the library was a monthly occurrence, especially during summer. Nowadays though, I read more blogs than I do books. I miss all the reading I used to do! So this year I want to make it more of a priority to read. I know they say that it’s so much better for you to read a book before bed rather than look at a screen too.

Two// Be Present

This is something that I think is an ongoing change for me. It’s learning the balance between being a good blogger and showing things off and knowing when to put the phone down. It’s a constant balance that I am trying to achieve.

Three// Blog a third time each week

I aim to consistently get two blog posts a week up on the blog, usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This coming year I would love to increase that to three times a week. That may seem like a very small or insignificant change to most of you, but really it’s a lot more work! However, this would really help my little corner of the internet to grow.

Four// Spend Time on my business

I love my blog, and I spend a ton of time on it. Honestly, my blog is a huge priority in my life. Yet, I also need to remember to make my business a priority as well. This year I want to try to put more time and effort into my business and really help it to grow and expand.

Those are just a few goals that I would love to work on in my life as the year continues. In 2017 though I also have a ton to look forward to! There’s some seriously cool things on my horizon.

One// Europe Trip

Yes! You read that right! I am finally getting a piece of my dream trip. One of my best friends and I will be traveling to England and France in the next few months. Seriously, this trip doesn’t even feel real yet. I still feel like I’m in a dream. So if you have any advice or must see’s in the south of England and Paris, please pass them along!

Two// Starting Wholesale

Going along with goal number four, I am working on creating a wholesale catalog for my stationery business. I really would love to get my cards in some store fronts this year, and I am really hoping it works out!

What are your resolutions or goals for 2017?

Great list Mariah! I, too, have set a goal to read one book a month (or strive to read as many as I can closest to 12) and travel this year. 🙂 Love the blog.

      Thanks Chris!

  4. I set resolutions, but after about a week or two I usually forget about it. I’m hoping to really stay on track this year, though! My main goal is to minimalize my home – wishing us both luck!

I don’t set resolutions, I set goals. I’m more likely to reach my goals than say “I’m going to do this or I’m going to do that.” I never keep resolutions, but goals build monthly.
